09 August 2023. The company IWORKS and its scientific partners presented a PV model for city roofs. The foldable PV System , the Urban Box, is used as a roof over parking spaces, sports fields or industrial areas. An at the same time provides shade. In bad weather conditions, such as a storm, the modules automatically move into a protective box, the “urban box”. When moving in and our , they are cleaned from a rotating brush for maximum energy efficiency. The previous foldable modules have a size of 11 x 35 meters and are erected up to a height of 12 meters. The maximum output is 75kWp. The first systems are to be erected in Nuremberg in 2023.
