„The EU Commission has approved state aid from Germany of an estimated 40 million euros for the Brunsbüttel LNG terminal.“ Energy companies RWE and the Dutch energy network operator Gasunie will benefit. This terminal Brunsbüttel “improves the gas supply and gas infrastructure in Germany and also contributes to energy security in the EU.  Specifically, the German state development bank KfW is to grant the two companies a share of the dividends paid by the operator of the LNG terminal if the annual return on the project falls below a certain percentage. The operating company is a joint project of KfW, Gasunie and RWE.

On the other hand, if the project yields enough money, no aid should be paid, is said. According to the information, however, it is estimated that the amount of aid should amount to 40 million euros. The mechanism through which the money is to be distributed is set to run for 15 years.”
