In Germany, for example, we have lost almost 80 percent of the biomass of flying insects over the past few decades. The main reason for species extinction is the loss of their natural habitats and thus their food and drinking base. At its core - similar to the climate - it is about the earth and life on this only planet that we will have.  We depend on functioning ecosystems for our nutrition, and to quench our thirst. We might no longer covering up areas in a pointless way. Densification of small and large towns thus makes a lot of sense.
