E-cars - as claimed by their producers - are driving without any CO2 emissions. In Germany E-cars are sometimes charged with CO2 emissions – since producing the electricity for cars is done by the energy industry, the industry which causes the highest CO2 emissions. We do not know how the electricity at the charging stations for the e-cars is produced - by coal, nuclear electricity or by fossil energy. Please see also this following article from Oct 2019 https://www.sueddeutsche.de/politik/klimapaket-gebilligt-bundesregierung-1.4642724, “Emissionen in Deutschland”, meaning emissions in Germany: The very dark fields are the emissions produced by the energy industry and other industrial fields.
Thus, it might be useful – at least in German cities – that peoples use buses, trains, bicycles or even walk.
